Southwestern University's spring 2018 production of A Bright Room Called Day was a huge show. This production included a lot of props (some edible), fight choreography, poetic language, raining business cards, and audience interaction. It also had a film aspect which had to take place before the rest of the production process could begin.

This show was part of the graduating senior class's capstone. Because the senior class of 2018 was exceptionally small (three students), I was given the opportunity to have an large position on this show as a junior. Despite never having stage managed before, the Southwestern University Theatre Department trusted me to stage manage this production.

As the stage manager, I made a production calendar, character/scene breakdown, a contact sheet, ran design and production meetings, sent out meeting reports, updated call times on the calendar, created and sent out rehearsal and performance reports, and called over 800 cues per show. In addition, I taught the assistant stage managers how to make rehearsal reports, meeting reports, and run sheets, as well as how to take line notes.

The most important thing I did while working on this production was continue to check in on everyone involved. I believe that by taking the time to make sure that everyone involved was doing okay, I stood a better chance of having a good run. I could not have asked for a better team and am eternally grateful to have had this opportunity.
