Early Theatre Work
I found my love for theatre at a very young age. It is not common knowledge that my passion for theatre actually stems from my passion for music. My parents both have extensive backgrounds in music and helped me develop my vocal skills. As a child, I would spend two hours every day practicing piano and my singing. I auditioned for my first opera when I was eleven years old and was hooked. Despite finding myself captivated by the magic of theatre, I had no idea I would one day take any bit of interest in the technical side, let alone actively pursue it.

Performing in La Boheme was a great learning experience. Not only was it my first solo opportunity as a vocalist, but it also gave me the chance to learn more about movement. I was presented with the challenges of navigating a very crowded space while maintaining a constant focus on the way I moved so that I could better portray a boy.

Although I was a performer in Hansel and Gretel, this production provided me the opportunity to learn a lot about the technical elements of theatre. There was a scene in which dry ice poured out of a box that I climbed through. Projections and a scrim were also used in this production. At the time, I had no idea what all of these things actually were. Only recently, during Professor Ore's Stage Management for the Theatre course, did I piece together what all of these technical elements were.
