Lighting Design

Course Description:

An introductory study of the art and practice of lighting design. Students are introduced to the unique process via hands-on lighting projects in the departments performance spaces. Design projects include recorded observations of natural and artificial lighting sources followed by the study and research of a selected classic painting. Related topics include additive color theory, lighting in a variety of theatrical spaces, and working with incandescent and LED fixtures. (FAP)

I took Lighting Design with Professor John Ore in Spring 2018 Semester. Because lighting design is my secondary focus, I was excited to learn as much as I could through this course.

This course introduced me to the McCandless Method and color theory. Additionally, I learned how to create a lot of really great design tools like color keys and designer script analyses.
